My Fall decorating seemed to take forever this year. I think I actually started it before it was officially Fall, and I’m just now getting it “done”. Fortunately, I got some areas done earlier, so I was able to share my No-Sew Tablerunner with natural décor and then I was in the Fall spirit with my Pumpkin Whoopie Pies. One of the issues was that I was waiting to buy real pumpkins and gourds and I went to the place I bought them from last year and they were no longer selling pumpkins. So, I had to find a new resource. I asked on my personal facebook page and got tons of local recommendations. I ended up going to a place one of my co-workers recommended and it was great. I knew as soon as I pulled up that it was my kind of place. I prefer to buy from the local farmers to support them. They had the pumpkins separated in to different areas for easy pricing.
Even the large pumpkins were only $4.00.
Everything is on the honor system. You just pick out what you want and put your cash in the locked money box. This is pretty typical in Lancaster County.
I liked the variety so much that I didn’t come home with a single, normal, orange pumpkin.
But, then the next day after I bought all of these pumpkins, we got our weekly CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) delivery and it included many pumpkins and gourds. Good thing I hadn’t splurged too much on the ones I bought. So, yesterday I finally found time to arrange all the pumpkins and gourds. I started with our front porch.
It’s similar to last year, but I guess that’s the look I like. I thought about putting mums in the pots, but truthfully I had so many pumpkins and gourds they needed to be outside, or it was going to look like we lived in a pumpkin patch!
Puddy wanted in the pumpkin close up too. 🙂
I didn’t have time to make a new wreath, so I used the one I updated last year again.
But, I did take a picture of my Mom’s cute wreath today. She got a new one to hang on her backsplash above her stove. I think she knows my tricks now, so she made sure to decorate for Fall before I came to visit this year. Not sure what I mean…read the post from last year linked above.
Back to our house – the foyer is also decked out for Fall. The spray painted branches are still making their rounds, but I changed the vase for something different and moved them to the foyer instead of the dining room table. I got the wheat/grass at the thrift shop this year to add something new.
The living room has the most Fall touches in it. I think mainly because we still haven’t redecorated the room since we got our new couch. So, I was excited to play around with some different décor. The tray is usually on our coffee table, I just filled a glass pumpkin that I got at a yard sale this summer with some pinecones and added a little pumpkin and gourd.
I bought a little cornucopia at Goodwill for less than $2 and filled it with some gourds and added a Fall candle to the candle holder for my Fall touch on the side table.
The mantle was probably my biggest struggle. I kept getting pieces of it right, but not liking the overall look. But, I’m finally happy with it. It just needed a mix of natural and faux touches. It’s challenging to decorate the mantle without it being too much because of the TV, but it also can’t be too sparse, or it looks weird too.
The leaves were the final addition, and gave it just the texture and color it needed.
The last bit of Fall in the living room is the remainder of the spray painted branches. I put them in a thrift shop vase that I had and added some new glass leaves that I got at the thrift shop this year.
I also added a little bit of Fall to my craft room on the floating shelves. Everything on the shelves was from thrift shops or yard sales, other than the little glitter pumpkin, which I got on clearance for $0.20 at Kmart last year’s end of season sale.
And, the final area for Fall at Puddy’s House is in the breakfast room. I mixed in some Fall with our every day décor on the buffet. I used what I had from previous years, except the leaf bowl was new to me from the thrift shop and the orange milk can was from Walmart.
Have you finished your fall decorating yet? Do you keep it the same each year, or do you change it up?

So pretty! And I love what a great deal you can get on pumpkins!

Thanks Kim! I can only imagine pumpkin prices where you live. We are pretty lucky here.

This is really cute. I’ve never really decorated before this year and now I just can’t stop myself. I bought a bunch of cheap stuff at Target and have been making all sorts of fall crafts.

Thanks Britni! Yes, I have that problem sometimes too. I still have decorations left in my Fall tote so I might not be done for the season either, but it was done enough for now. 🙂
